4 out of 5 stars Good complement for smaller carry-on case   May 31, 2008
2 out of 3 found this review helpful

The case piggybacks nicely on top of the American Tourister Tribute III Expandable 21" Carry-On Upright Suiter I got just before --- the "bottomless pocket" on the bag is actually a feature, not a bug, as it is meant to fit trolley handles of carry-on bags. The combination does become a bit top-heavy if for whatever reason the carry-on is (nearly) empty. Colors (black) and design match quite well.

As for the bag itself, it nicely holds my Apple MacBook MB404LL/A 13.3" Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 250 GB Hard Drive) Black inside its Incase CL57077 Neoprene Sleeve for MacBook Air, MacBook 13", PowerBook 12" and iBook 12", Black
--- having lost the Macbook's predecessor to a fall on the ice (thank G-d it was insured), I'm not taking any chances, even though the Samsonite bag does have some foam protection around the laptop compartment.

The bag would cetainly hold a Apple MacBook Pro MB133LL/A 15.4" Laptop (2.4 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, 2 GB RAM, 200 GB Hard Drive, DVD/CD SuperDrive) without the neoprene sleeve, and probably with the sleeve.

The bag has various pockets to organize my usual presentation gear --- AC adapter, (mini-)DVI to VGA adapter cable for hooking up to projectors, Kensington 33374 Wireless Presenter with Laser Pointer, retractable Ethernet, audio, USB, and Firewire cables. The outside pocket holds my reading glasses --- it does have enough space for my Batterygeek external battery pack. (Warmly recommended to transatlantic fliers or long-haul train riders.) It is small enough that it ought to go under the seat in front of you on an aircraft.

The soft handle is a nice touch, as is the gel-padded shoulder strap. The bag feels quite sturdy, although the handle and shoulder strap rivets are potential points of failure.

All in all, well worth the money.

UPDATE: after several months of carrying my laptop to and from work in this, the rubberized handle straps are falling apart. I can still use it as a shoulder bag but that just ain't my thing. So I am regretfully retiring it and replacing it by a Case Logic 13" Classic Slimline Laptop Case - Black, which is an underappreciated gem.

My Dell Latitude D830 fits perfectly. BUT, there is VERY Little space for any accessories.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent Laptop Bag!   May 27, 2008

I did a bit of research before buying a laptop bag for my Dell laptop. This bag was a great price, something I was a bit skeptical of at first... That is, until I got it in the mail.

The build quality is excellent in my opinion. I love the handle grip. There are plenty of compartments to add things to and the laptop portion is well padded. It fits my Dell Inspiron 1521 (which is a big laptop) just perfectly. However, there is no obvious room for your power cord - a minus I would think but I've never seen a laptop bag have a place for that.

Definitely recommend this laptop bag! Make SURE to check your laptop dimensions and compare it with this laptop bag to make sure it fits before buying.

3 out of 5 stars the side pocket does not expand - you have a lot of compartment room, as long as its not bulky.   May 25, 2008
I am very happy with this briefcase. I had a travelers briefcase prior to this one, so I had to cut down immensly on what I carried around. This briefcase is strictly for what is needed - your laptop, mouse pad, usb mouse, power adapter, flash drives and a few other small peripherals. This briefcase forces you to travel light, it works out perfect.

the negative is that this is not an I.T. workers type of briefcase, like my old one where i can carry extra patch cables, a spare firewall and router along with power adapters as well. I also had room for a binder or two - 3 full expadable compartment briefcase. Thats ok though, because what i needed was a briefcase to carry the bare necesities and not too bulky. very comfortable, wide strap as well.

5 out of 5 stars BEST CASE   April 26, 2008
This is one of the best Notebook cases. It has alot of pockets for all kind of stuff, has a saftey pocket for the laptop and may be used for different uses. Not suitable for big laptops.
