5 out of 5 stars Quick installation, works as promised!   December 25, 2008

I purchased the Linksys Dual-Band Wireless-N Gaming Adapter to use with my Sony Blu-Ray Player Sony BDP-S350 1080p Blu-Ray Disc Player With A 1-Year Extended Warranty Service Plan & High Speed HDMI Cable (2 meters) and my PS2... yes, I still have a PS2.

Installation took minutes and was extremely simple using the included installation CD. Only annoyance was that you have to temporarily plug the adapter into your main CPU via the ethernet cable, so I had to disconnect my main network connection. This was only a minor inconvenience.

After installation, I was up in running in less than 10 minutes. The adapter automatically recognized my wireless network, authenticated itself using my WEP 64-bit encryption key, and my blu-ray player was off and running.

I highly recommend this product as a quick, simple, reliable way to connect an ethernet device to a wireless network.

5 out of 5 stars Excellent   December 24, 2008
I bought this adapter to connect my XBOX 360 to my wireless network. Configuration was very easy and I was up and running in no time.
It supports all security protocols including WPA2 which was critical for me (and should be for you as well).

4 out of 5 stars Works Great with XBOX 360 and XBOX Live   December 23, 2008
Had this for 8 months and continues to work very well as my xbox 360 wireless N gaming adapter. Connection to my DLink DIR-655 wireless N router was easy and took about 15 minutes for setup. Online gaming (Halo3) and downloads over XBOX Live work as if connected to a cable, but aren't!
I definitely recommend the Linksys gaming adapter if you are looking to significantly improve performance over the standard XBOX 360 wireless G adapter.

4 out of 5 stars Great piece of hardware; wireless-N > wireless-B   December 21, 2008
I picked this up because in order to connect my xbox 360 to our router, I'd have to run 100' of cable down the stairs (in fact, I had, at one point) in order to get it connected to the router.

First, I looked at the 'official' xbox wireless control... it was so out of date!

I stumbled upon this device, and I'm glad I did. The wireless-N works great and the configuration was easy, even for my secured network.

2 out of 5 stars Sporadic connectivity   December 15, 2008
This is the second Linksys gaming adapter I've tried to set up with a wireless b/g/n network (Netgear router model for my 360. First time I bought a "g" model of their adapter and learned that that particular model did not support WPA security protocol, so I would have to switch to WEP or get the "n" version. I didn't want to revert to WEP so went ahead and made the switch.

I've spent the past few days attempting to get the adapter running consistently with little success. The adapter is communicating with the router (I can see it in the attached devices list), but the speeds are very slow and my connection to Xbox Live often drops out. I have 3 other devices (iMac, iBook and PC laptop) running on the router with NO problems whatsoever. Connectivity to the internet is fine w/ speedtest.net showing a 15 - 17 Mb/s downstream connection over the wireless network.

I have gone to the Linksys site for support, but found very little that was helpful. I did find quite a few posts from people complaining about similar issues, but no real resolution was provided. I've logged into the adapter multiple times and attempted to tweak various settings to no avail.

The experience in trying to provision the adapter has been very frustrating and I would have trouble recommending to anyone based on its performance to date. I did give it two stars, rather than one, because it does connect occasionally, but at nowhere near the speeds one would expect from even a "g" standard device. The hunt for an adapter that actually delivers continues, but Linksys is done in my book.
