Description
Explore the harrowing world of The Boondock Saints as never before in this Unrated Special Edition! Digitally remastered for extraordinary picture quality and exploding in 5.1 EX Dolby Surround Sound, this definitive two-disc edition of the cult phenomenon features deleted scenes, outtakes, two audio commentaries, a printable script and more!

Hot on the trail of the assailants behind the brutal murder of Russian thugs, FBI agent Paul Smecker (Willem Dafoe) is surprised to discover the killers are Irish twin brothers (Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus) who believe they've been chosen to rid the world of evil. But as they unleash more brutality on the criminals of Boston's underworld, Smecker finds himself torn between busting the vigilantes...and joining them!

Charismatic young stars Sean Patrick Flanery and Norman Reedus play two Irish brothers, Connor and Murphy, who believe themselves ordained by God to rid the world of evil men. Their first killing is in self-defense; but after that, they start killing with devotion, gunning down a summit of the Russian mafia. Willem Dafoe plays a gay FBI agent (he listens to opera while examining crime scenes) who knows what the boys are doing but feels that their vigilante tactics are necessary. There's not much plot to The Boondock Saints--it's mostly a series of violent scenes in which the boys are partially ingenious and partially lucky. The movie seems to want to provoke debate about vigilantism, but the scenario is too implausible to stir any real controversy. The peculiar mix of earnestness and machismo will not appeal to everyone, but it's certainly unique and may acquire a cult following. --Bret Fetzer

4 out of 5 stars Terrific! Full 108 min   December 24, 2008

This is a fabulously outlandish movie, thouroghly entertaining and terrific setup scenes that just make you laugh. One of those you watch over and over. ***note: The info notes that this is the rated version but I see the run time is the full 108 minutes as was the unrated anniversary version released last year. I have not seen this version yet but I am glad the added footage seems to be there. A definite purchase for me.

4 out of 5 stars 3 stars out of 4   December 18, 2008

The Bottom Line:

Though the movie tapers off a little too much into insanity in its third act, for the majority of its running-length it's a light-hearted and enjoyable Tarantino clone of an action movie that moves quickly and never takes itself too seriously.

1 out of 5 stars Stupid movie   December 16, 2008

This movie made no sense. A bunch of killing and religeon in it and some irish b.s. Made no sense whatsoever. Another stupid movie that was way overrated. If you like blood and killing mixed with church with no plot i guess its your kind of movie. Pretty lame and sick.

5 out of 5 stars IMHO, the best movie ever made!   November 25, 2008
Due to lack of advertising, I didn't see this movie til a few years after its release when a good friend of mine bought it for me and I'm very glad he did. This movie is up there with my top favorite movies. Buy this movie, you won't be disappointed...and if you are, I doubt it'll take you long to find a new owner for your Boondock Saints.

5 out of 5 stars I love this movie   November 18, 2008
I love this movie because it is a combination between action and comedy and it has an interesting argument. The two main characters are murderers. However, they only go after criminals, and criminals who perform the worst crimes. So they are like vigilantes.... Irish Catholic vigilantes at that. I absolutely love this movie and it's plot. It is funny and action packed. I recommend this movie to everyone. Although it is too violent for people under the age of 17.
