Editorial Reviews:

Amazon.com Product Description
This elegant dress watch from Movado's Kara series has a bold Museum dial and a slender, graceful silhouette. The black dial has silver-tone Dauphine hands and single concave dot marker at the 12 o'clock position. This is Movado's signature dial, made famous by American designer Nathan George Horwitt in 1947. Horwitt intended his design to be evocative of a sun dial, with the dot representing the sun at high noon. The dial is framed by a round steel bezel. Graceful curved lugs secure the case to a slender silver-tone bangle bracelet that fastens with a jewelry clasp. Other notable features of this watch include precise Swiss quartz movement and a highly scratch-resistant sapphire crystal. Water-resistant to 30 meters, this watch can withstand splashes and brief immersion in water; however, it is not sufficiently resistant for swimming.

About Movado
Movado, one of the most celebrated watch brands in the world, traces its origins to the small village of La Chaux-de-faunds, Switzerland where, in 1881, a young watchmaker named Achille Ditesheim hired six assistants and opened a small workshop. He called his company Movado, a word which means, roughly, "always in motion." The company grew and prospered, evolving from a small pocketwatch manufacturer into a leading innovator and designer of precision wristwatches. Throughout its history, Movado has maintained its place at the pinnacle of innovation and excellence in design, craftsmanship and technology. Movado watches are crafted by highly-skilled watchmakers to meet the exacting standards of Swiss time technology. They are accurate to within seconds a year. All Movado watches are sealed and protected against water, moisture and dust, and individually tested to meet strict international standards of quality. A long-time dedicated supporter of the arts, Movado has, itself, been the recipient of over 200 international awards. Movado watches can now be found in the permanent collections of over 20 museums worldwide.

4 out of 5 stars wonderful watch   December 29, 2008
This watch is a great design and it is a wonderful time piece. The other reviews are right that the band does get scratched up, and I also had to get my watch re sized once I received it. This can be done at any jewelry store, and I had it done for about 15 dollars. The face does not scratch at all, however, it is still as clean as the day I got it. If you have any worries that you will not be able to read the face because it is so minimal in design, you get used to it really quickly and it doesn't bother me at all now. I love this watch and I wear it every day.

5 out of 5 stars Classic Women's Watch!   December 24, 2008
I bought this watch as a present for my wife. The quality is exceptional. In one word, this watch is "elegant". Belongs on the wrist of every beautiful woman.

2 out of 5 stars Warranty Deception   September 16, 2008

Beware any Movado watch advertised as covered by a Manufacturer warranty, this is deceptive. Movado watches sold by Amazon are not covered by the Movado warranty. I have advised Amazon of the deceptive practice but some watches still show warranty as provided by manufacturer. Don't be deceived as I was. Nice watch but understand that what you are buying is not what is advertised.

5 out of 5 stars Elegant watch   August 30, 2008
My girlfriend was very pleased to receive this watch for her birthday. This should make a great gift for any woman on any occasion.

4 out of 5 stars nice watch for the price   June 12, 2008
i purchased this watch for half the price as compared to retail of $495, some locations have specials for $400. However, this is still much cheaper. On the down side, there is no warranty directly from the manufacturer. My wrist is very small in which i had to take it to the Movado store to get the links removed. They charged $20 + tax, which i thought was a bit much. The person who adjusted the watch for me ended up leaving several scratches on the band, which i did not notice until i was in my car driving away. Beats the purpose of me paying the price for adjustments directly from the company v.s. another jeweler. I was pretty upset, but what can i do now that i have already left and there is no warranty avail. I guess sooner or later the watch will get worn out to wear and tear, but I would rather have that be my doings rather than someone else who are supposed to be an expert in what they do.
