Amazon.com Product Description
Looking for a little edge? Invicta's Skeleton Prowler offers this unique design in solid steel with blue ionic grid pattern plating and gold-plated accents. This Swiss-made automatic watch features a blue grid dial with luminous hour and minute hands and a sweep second hands. A cut-out window on the hour hand allows a view of the inner workings of the watch, and the dial plate itself rotates as it marks the time. The dial is capped with an anti-reflective hardened mineral crystal and framed by a wide grid bezel with bold Arabic numerals signifying the hours. In a unique design feature, the bezel also holds the automatic date calendar, featured at the six o'clock position. The watch is showcased on a blue ionic PVD plated steel bracelet with gold-plated knurled inserts. It boasts Swiss automatic movement, visible through an exhibition case back, and is rated water resistant to 100 meters.

3 out of 5 stars Quality control issues?   September 12, 2008

UPDATE: I decided to try again with this model (I really do like the way it looks and feels) and so far, so good, with the new watch. I hope it will stay that way. If it does, I will up the star rating.
(Note: I am apparently unable to do so. I would now rate at 4 stars.)

Note that the pricing on this and similar models seems to jump around like crazy, over a very wide range. Especially with the termination of Amazon's post-purchase price protection (boo!), do a careful job of shopping.

Amazon has now processed the earlier returns and refunds--no particular problems with that, although it took a couple of weeks.
*********

I initially purchased the #3773 black and gold version of this watch. Within one day, the date function failed--apparently the special gears don't mesh properly. I returned that one, and decided to try the blue/gold version (#3774).

I loved the look and feel of this very distinctive and eye-catching, and also rather large and heavy watch. Not for all tastes (the #3773 was closer to a formal watch; the blue/gold version is pure fun), but in my eyes, a beautiful design. Within a week, the bracelet clasp failed. This is a pretty expensive watch, supposedly Swiss made. What is going on with quality control? Do others have experience with this set of Invicta watches? Is it worth trying once more, or should I give up, on the brand and/or this family of watches?

I attempted to correspond with Amazon to receive further guidance on experience with these watches, but received a formulaic and largely non-responsive answer. Perhaps I'll try to call before giving up.

It's really a shame--I haven't seen anything resembling these by any other manufacturer.
