Amazon.com Product Description You can be a serious diver and still show a bit of style with the Invicta Abyss automatic men's stainless steel watch. Its round silver stainless steel watch case measures 44mm (1.7 inches) features a skeleton see-through caseback. It's topped by a lavender unidirectional rotating bezel with white elapsed time markings. The purple mother of pearl dial features large luminous Tritnite dial markers and hands (with seconds hand), with encroaching minute indexes. The silver stainless steel link bracelet band is joined by a fold-over-clasp-with-safety. Other features include a day and date function at 3 o'clock, anti-reflective mineral crystal, and water resistance to 200 meters (660 feet)--suitable for scuba diving. An automatic watch is a mechanical watch that is self-winding. the movement of your wrist and body causes the rotor--a weight attached to an automatic winding mechanism--to wind up the watch. This automatic watch has 21 jewels that the gears turn on to protect the metal parts from grinding together. it needs no battery, but it will stop if you have been physically inactive for an extended period of time. If this happens, wind the crown ten times clockwise to start the watch and give it some reserve power. Tritnite is a luminous material with an extended glow exclusively developed by Invicta in Switzerland and added to their timepiece hands and markers. When exposed to regular daylight, it will hold its glow for about 20 hours. About Invicta Latin for "invincible," Invicta was founded in La Chaux-de-fonds, Switzerland in 1837 by Raphael Picard, who believed that fine Swiss timepieces could be offered at modest prices. For more than a century, the company has created distinctive manual and automatic-winding pieces. In 1991, descendants of the Picard family reaffirmed the company's founding principle, and the invigorated Invicta has been growing ever since with one of the most widely diverse collections of precise Swiss timepieces on the market.

Abyss Pro divers watch July 7, 2008 This was given to me by my wife after our first Invicta diver's watch - I now own 4 Invictas. The color was a little less intense than I thought it would be, but it's still a very unusual watch - the lavender MOP face is really nice looking. It looks great with purple or lavender dress shirts. A coin dial would be more attractive, but the quality is great. It's a very nice watch.
Invicta Does it Right! March 5, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have purchased over 50 watches in the last 6 months. Many are from Invicta. I prefer the large case size and Invicta has some of the nicest large case watches.
Not many Gents watches come in purple. However, purple will be the new watch color this year for Gents. Guys that are secure enough with themselves can wear any color, including purple!
The mother-of-pearl dial is amazing. Not only is it nice to watch in the bright sunlight, but when I am relaxing in a chair at night, just watching the TV, the colors still change and look great in the lower light. The luminous markers are very bright and not overdone.
The bracelet is heavy and not cheap feeling. Another Invicta Pro-Diver I own has a lower quality bracelet that does not LOOK cheap, but it feels cheap. When you move your arm around you can hear the noises a cheaply made bracelet makes. This watch does not make those noises.
The 44mm case is just over the new men's standard size. It is perfect for me. I have a 7 inch wrist and this bracelet was easy to size myself. Although this is one of the smallest cases I own, I love it.
The exhibition case back is a nice touch that allows you to admire the automatic movement. The only negative comment I have about the watch is the metal bar that runs diagonally across the caseback crystall. The watch is heavy and the imprint of the metal bar pushes down into my skin. On one hand, it is annoying. On the other hand, this is a dive watch and the metal bar creates a diver's logo on the skin.
For this price, you can not go wrong. Invicta brand, 5 year warranty, automatic movement, mother-of-pearl dial, medium sized case, quality bracelet, and a rare Gents color all make this a watch you should own.
