Amazon.com Product Description The Kensington 72214 Pocket Mouse Mini Wireless USB Travel Mouse is an ultra-compact travel mouse for complete mobility. The perfect solution for busy travelers who don't like the built-in input devices on their laptops, this mouse not only gives you wireless freedom, but Kensington's interference-free Quick RF wireless technology prevents annoying cursor hesitation to provide ultra-smooth movement and precise control. The Kensington 72214 features a compact shape that is comfortable for both right- and left-handed use, and a convenient on/off switch that saves time and the expense of constantly replacing batteries. More convenient and comfortable than a touch-pad, the Kensington 72214 has two mouse buttons and a scroll wheel that makes navigation easy. The speed and pinpoint accuracy of Kensington's DiamondEye optical technology allows it to respond to even your fastest movements with accurate tracking and precise guidance on virtually any surface. The Kensington 72214's wireless receiver connects via USB for convenient, universal plug-and-play with both PCs and Macs. As an added convenience, this unit comes in a stylish gray-and-black color scheme that compliments most any laptop, and comes with a handy travel bag so you have just one small thing to carry. This Kensington optical mouse works right out of the box, with long-lasting reliability that is backed by a one-year manufacturer's warranty. The Kensington 72214 requires a PC running Windows 98, ME, 2000, or XP, or a Macintosh running Mac OS 10.1.5 or later, though it will still function as a one-button mouse with Mac 8 and 9.

Doesn't Last Long August 11, 2008 This mini mouse worked fine - but only for a while.
I liked the fact that it "went to sleep" after some time, as a way to save battery life. However, It was a bit awkward to get it working again afterwards, since I always had to look up which button(s) to press.
I'm giving this two stars, though, because it *died* after less than a year of use. At one point, it just stopped working. I replaced the battery, but that didn't solve the problem. I tried resetting the mouse following the instructions, but that didn't solve the problem, either.
Basically, the mouse stopped transmitting, and it was unusable from then on. To me, this was a waste of money.
Kensington pocket Mouse March 22, 2008 great little mouse! I got tired of using the touchpad on my laptop so I got this mouse, very good price! Works well with my laptop and very compact. Easy to install.
Good January 18, 2008 The performance is good. No problems at all for me. Ppl complain about the battery case, Well, if you can figure it out, its easy. I open the compartment and close it several times a day with out breaking it. I dont think it consumes a lot of battery power(Well, I always take of the batteries after use). The funny thing is the battery arrangement, generally the -ve side of the battery goes towards the spring, but here, one of the batteries go in reverse. So there is a +ve side of one battery going to the spring in the compartment. That was terribly dumb on the manufacturing part. Another glitch for me was the size. Small is cute but not for men with huge palms. It might be really good for women but it sometimes pains my hand. Now that was a lil dumb on my part to buy a small one. Something where they could improve is... use a button that is handy to switch of the mouse. The switch off button is like a reset button where you always have to use a pen or pin.

In spite of the negative reviews, I decided to try this mouse based on the few positive reviews. It appears Kensington has been paying attention to the complaints. The battery cover opened easily. They've even added a removable cellophane sticker that has arrows showing the direction the cover should be slid to open. I tried to push the startup button on the bottom with my thumb as was suggested in one of the reviews but it was unreliable for me. I ended up pushing it with the screw driver blade on my pocket knife, and it worked fine. The instruction manual (which is still a bit too vague) is now available online at the Kensington web site, as requested by another reviewer. The mouse is tiny, but I had no problem, even with my large hands, getting it to work. I'm using a 15" MacBook Pro and I can maneuver the mouse on the corner of the laptop, below the keyboard and to the side of the touch pad. I wanted a three button mouse to use with Google Sketchup, and it has been working perfectly. The small size and carrying pouch make it perfect for slipping in my computer carrying case. I'm very satisfied, and for the price it's a great deal.
Hard to use, does not work well October 14, 2007 0 out of 1 found this review helpful
Cons 1. This mouse is hard to use 2. Needs installing software from the web to get your laptop to recognize it and make it work. 3. Battery door breaks easily 4. If you turn it off, very hard to synch up to laptop again. Needs pressing buttons and holding up to USB drive. 5. My wife got so irritated with its repeated malfunctioning, she threw iut away after a month, and we got a logitech optical wired mouse that we have been happy with ever since.
Pros: small and sleek.
