For the price, it's hard to beat this deal.
It's quiet and performs comparably to the GeForce 8800. Nvidia did not like my ATI chipset so I got one of these and have had zero issues since.
The only issue I have with it (and it seems to be a common complaint) is the documentation that comes with it. Also, the drivers are not up to date for Windows Vista Ultimate 64-bit. Make sure you update to the newest Catalyst before you pop this in. Downloading it online is the best bet and this also makes the driver disc worthless. For those that know what they're doing, the lack of documentation is a minor point since you'd probably never look at it anyways but it is kind of annoying at just how sloppy it is. It's literally just a few sheets of paper that say nothing about the card. In fact, I'm not even sure if it's got anything to do with the card in the box at all.
You can crossfire 3 of these together and I've heard it's now possible to do 4. At any rate, for cost/performance it's one of the best deals right now.

I purchased this product and was excited when it arrived in its flashly four color box. All accessories appeared to be in the box.
So why did I rate it only 1 star? Where do I begin?
1. The installation manual is a low quality xerox copy that does not even show or talk about this particular card. It does not even mention that there is a power cable that must be used for this card. Nowhere. I even looked on the CD based manual, and it only says, "Plug in power if applicable."
2. The card will not run. I plugged it into the 150 watt video power cable (it only requires 75 watts), but the machine does not boot and I get a "You must plug in power cable" error.
3. I tried looking for help on their website, but you must register first. Ok, I tried registering 4 times and kept getting some kind of funky error.
4. Next step, I tried the online chat function. I entered a full description of my error, clicked on "SUBMIT", and got an error that the help desk is only open from 8am to 5pm PST. It was 8:47 am PST, and during a normal work day.
5. Next step, I tried to email them using their "Contact us" link. It let me fill in lots of details about me and my card problem, but when I licked submit I got "ERROR: Could not Proccess Your request!".
Clearly this company does not want to be contacted or bothered by their customers.
So, I will return my card to Amazon and try one by someone else. Too bad.

Great Product from AMD/ATI, Others have hit allot of the Good points and also the Sparse Documentation, Just go to AMD's site there is better info on the card, and a PDF manual with More Information.
Notice:
This Card Will Work With PCI Express 1.1 and 2.0, To Clear up the poster that said it will not work with 1.1 based Motherboards.
PCI Express 2.0 Spec is Backward Compatible with All existing PCI Express Spec's 1.1 .
To make it clear, All Motherboards will except this Card 1.1 and 2..0 Alike. There is no need to update your Computer or motherboard to use this card, The Nice thing is when you do, you can use it in your new 2.0 spec board also.
If you need more information on PCI Express, Please Google it, it will explain all the Confusion some are having, i am running this card in a 1.1 Pci Express Mainboard with No Problems.

I STARTED OUT WITH JUST ONE OF THESE CARDS ON A HIGH END GAMING MOTHERBOARD AND WAS VERY IMPRESSED WITH THE RESULTS . THEN I ADDED
A SECOND 3870 PCIE CARD SET IN THE CROSSFIRE AND CAN'T BELIEVE THE
RESULTS . A HIGHLY RECOMENDED PACKAGE . THE ONLY COMPLAINT THAT I
HAVE IS IN RUNNING SOME OF THE OLDER GAMES AND THIS COULD JUST BE
AN ADJUSTMENT ISSUE , BUT GAMES THAT I COULD RUN IN VISTA [ON MY
LAPTOP ] WILL NOT RUN AT ALL WITH THIS CARD ALSO IN VISTA . ALSO
KEEP IN MIND THAT WITH TWO OR MORE OF THESE CARDS YOU WILL PROBABLY
NEED TO INCREASE YOUR POWER SUPPLY AND OF COURSE ,THE BETTER THE REST
OF YOUR EQUIPMENT IS THE BETTER THESE CARDS WILL PERFORM . TOM C.
Performance/Price/Quiet May 15, 2008

A year ago this card would have cost $500. For $175 (current pricing) its a steal. For $350 you can get crossfire up and running.
I had a X1600 Pro crossfire with a X1650 sapphire and the HD3870 single unit blows those 2 away.
It tripled my performance on many games including TF2, WIC, FEAR, Assasin Creed, Six Vegas, COD4.
The only downside is the Crysis still blows...and is not playable at anything above 1280x1024.
1 other huge bonus....super quiet!! Almost no heat or sound coming from this card.
