Better than expected!! November 16, 2008 My computer is plugged into the control outlet. When I standby computer all those little power suckers, modem, cordless phone, printer, battery charger, speakers, etc. are turned off. Simple and effective. I don't know if it will ever pay for itself in energy savings, but it already has in good feelings. You need one of these.
Works fine but not with Directv H20 as controller November 7, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Works as advertised, nice spacing of outlets, and saves money. The only glitch for me was that my Directv hd receiver (not the DVR version) wouldn't work as the controlling outlet. I guess the power draw of that device is about the same whether its on or off, so no amount of adjustment would work.
Works like a charm! October 29, 2008 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
The Smart Strip is worth every penny! I bought two, one for the TV and components and one for the computer and components. There is little setup involved, only real decision is figuring out which unit to make the switching outlet; in my case it was the TV and computer. When the TV or computer is turned on, the autoswitching turns on the other components. This is the best part of the Smart Strip; simple and easy. These units have worked very well. The Smart Strip can be seen working with the indicator lights of whether the strip is operating and whether the switched outlets are operating. Great product while saving you money!
simplicity October 4, 2008 This is not your average surge strip, you have one main controlling plug & when it's turned off all other peripherials are put in slow draw mode plus it has plenty of always on plugs. I own two & will purchase more.
Every bit helps September 26, 2008 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using the Smart Strip for about 6 months now. I was given the unit by the inventor. He told me that although it is manufactured in China (like so much else we buy) he had personally inspected the factory and was confident that the working conditions and environmental safety standards were good.
I have connected my PC, external hard drive, 2 monitors, speakers, USB hub and camera dock to the Smart Strip. Everything shuts down smoothly. The only peripheral that does not automatically come back on when I turn on my PC is the external hard drive, but I feel that is a small penalty to pay for the savings on both power and heat-generation from the vampire devices. For my remaining bank of device chargers - for phone, ipod, headset etc. - I have them on a power strip that I can easily reach to turn off when nothing is connected. With a small bit of reorganization of your devices, you can make a great difference to your energy consumption. A great idea.
