I bought this necklace as a holiday gift for my girlfriend. It's the first time I've gotten jewelry for her, and this seemed to fit the bill wonderfully. I was searching for a diamond necklace that didn't cost a fortune, and was about to settle for a 1/6 carat traditional diamond necklace that cost more than this. If you haven't purchased or seen jewelry in person before, these things are MUCH smaller than you would think from the pictures. 1/6 carat is like the tip of a pencil.

Then, I came across this beauty and immediately I knew this was the one to get. Black is elegant and goes with anything. 1 carat seems like about the right size for a necklace. It's not too big, and not too small (like any "traditional" diamond necklace anywhere near this price range).

It arrived quickly from Amazon, and in excellent shape. I have a comment on the packaging... in the details for this item, it talks about it shipping in a blue suede cloth pouch. I thought that sounded really corny. Shipping a nice necklace like this in a little pouch? I was actually looking online for something more presentable to give this in as a gift. Luckily, amazon was wrong and it didn't just come in a pouch -- it actually has a nice gift box, which contains a suede necklace jewelry box. Very nice looking.

About the actual necklace. It wasn't -quite- what I expected. The pictures lead you to believe that the stone is a deep BLACK. It's not exactly black. When you look at it in light, it appears almost metallic -- like a dark graphite color. Definitely not a deep black like it appears. It's still a gorgeous stone, but it is worth mentioning.

For anyone thinking about giving this as a gift... I encourage you to search on google for the origins of black diamonds. There are a lot of science articles recently that indicate that they originated from outer space. Interesting stuff, and if your lady is into that type of thing it might score you some points :)

All in all I am extremely pleased with my purchase. For the price you can't ask for more. It's a gorgeous stone, infinitely better than traditional diamonds in this price range. I haven't given it to my girlfriend yet but I am sure she will love it :)
